Maria Karazlateva

Ministry of Culture Directorate Preservation of the immovable cultural heritage

Architect Maria Karazlateva has more than 30 years of experience in the field of territorial planning and space design. Her interests and competences mostly concern the integration and exhibition of the cultural heritage and its environment modeling. She is author of projects for space development and design of major Bulgarian cultural heritage sites such as the birth house of Vasil Levski in Karlovo, the archaeological complex Thracian Tombs near the village of Starosel, the historical urban complexes of Tsarevets, Trapezitsa, Momina Krepost and Arbanasi.

Architect Karazlateva is member of different national and international organizations among them the Union of the architects in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian National ICOMOS Committee, the Bulgarian-American commission for mutual heritage preservation etc.

In the Public experts’ council of the Ulpia Serdica Foundation architect Karzalateva is institutional representative of the Ministry of culture where she works as senior expert in cultural heritage and programme budgeting of the development of the state culture fund.
